Personal Friday: Introducing Rocky and the Movie You Should Watch Now

So instead of Photo Friday, I’ve decided to call this Personal Friday because it’s always going to be a glimpse into my life. You knew the other one was going to show up at some point. This is Rocky. He’s Jackie’s brother, and he is TOTALLY awesome. Rocky is a dog masquerading as a cat – he loves to cuddle, he loves people and family, he comes and licks our faces all the time, and he has no problem being told what to do. Except when it’s dinner time – then he just wants us to feed him pronto. But […]

TIFF 2012: Review of Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing

I haven’t had a chance to blog about books in awhile because real life is getting in the way. Real life including the three movies I recently saw at the Toronto International Film Festival! So, lucky you, you get a few movie mini-reviews before I get back to our regularly scheduled YA features: Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing Look, if you like Shakespeare, you should totally watch this movie. If you don’t like Shakespeare? You should still totally watch this movie. If you’re a Whedon fan? You should DEFINITELY watch this movie. This is Joss Whedon and Shakespeare stripped […]

Dear blog…

…I apologize for ignoring you. I have been very busy at my day job, making money so that I can buy books to read and review for you. I have also been very busy learning many copy-editing skills so that I can maybe, possibly get a job in publishing where I can spend lots of time reading more books, and then posting on you. I have been even more busy trying to figure out ways to save money for my upcoming wedding and homeownership so that I can have a house with bookshelves to fill with books that I’ve reviewed. In […]

Toronto’s first Fashion’s Night Out – Thurs, Sept 6th!

I know this is a mostly YA lit review site, but that “mostly” allows me to occasionally post some really great stuff that I love.  Some of you might know that I’m kind of obsessed with fashion. I used to be a fashion blogger for TorontoStreetFashion.com, I have an enormous wardrobe, and I’m still a bit of a nonstop shopper. I love beautiful clothes and accessories, and I love finding out about new designers (especially local ones).  This year, Toronto is hosting its first ever Fashion’s Night Out. FNO is a big shopping celebration that happens all over the world. There […]

The experiment…finally…and some notes

July 16, 2012 / 1 Comment / Posted by Tiff @ Mostly YA Lit in Blogging Life, Personal

After three to five years of saying I should start a book blog, I’m finally doing it. This is, in large part, because Goodreads is super easy to use and I’m basically just cut and pasting my reviews from there to here. Nevertheless, it’s nice to have a pretty place to post my musings on (mostly) YA books with a few adult books, movies, TV shows, and fashion stuff, no? Disclaimer and Mission I don’t purport to have the best reviews on anything, or even to have great thoughts to share, but I do think that the authors I read […]
