Top Ten Tuesday #8: Books I HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Shelf Unread

March 19, 2013 / 19 Comments / Top Ten Tuesday, Uncategorized

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish to highlight a top ten list related to book blogging, and to get to know fellow book bloggers.

Quick and dirty TTT today, guys – I’m super busy with work and haven’t been sleeping or doing anything else much lately.

My embarrassing overarching excuse for not having gotten to to these earlier is that I got way too excited requesting ARCs in my first year as a blogger that I’ve gotten a bit bogged down. Rookie mistake. I’m really hoping to change that as this blog goes on.

In no particular order:

1. Throne of Glass by S.J. Maas – I read so many amazing reviews, and I was super excited to try fantasy for the first time, and…nothing.

2. Meant to Be by Lauren Morill – It’s a contemp, it’s a romance, why, why, why have I not read this yet?

3. The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson – I think the reason I haven’t read this is because it’s not in my wheelhouse, even though I adore Maureen’s writing. I should just trust her and go with it.
4. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson – Morgan’s debut, Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, is what inspired me to start writing again. I LOVED it. I think the reason I haven’t read SCS yet is because it’s heavy to carry around? #dumbreason
5. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen – The jokes keep coming. I’m a huge Janeite and I haven’t read one of her seminal works.
6 & 7.  The Anti-Prom & Getting Over Garrett Delaney by Abby McDonald – Abby is one of my favourite authors. I’m constantly telling everyone about Sophomore Switch and the upcoming Jane Austen Goes to Hollywood. WHY?!
8, 9, & 10. The Last Summer of You and Me, My Name is Memory & 3 Willows by Ann Brashares – Same story, same horrible guilt.
Guys, the worst thing about this post is that I have at least ten more books I could have put on this list. I’ll save you the despair and guilt.

What’s on your shelf that you HAD to read, but haven’t yet? Anyone else just as guilt-ridden as me?

  1. It's so easy to get bogged down. I've been feeling a bit of pressure to read faster, but alas I'm taking one book at a time. As for your list-yeah Mansfield Park is one I've tried to read, but just can't get into it. I don't know why.

  2. I just finished The Madness Underneath and was very disappointed, I enjoyed In The Name of The Star though… I would say if you have better books to wait on it. Throne of Glass has been sitting on my kindle for a while now 🙂

  3. I listening (via audiobook) to The Name of the Star right now, and really enjoying it. But I am a sucker for creepy books. I've also read Meant to Be which was cute. I didn't love it as much as I was expecting, but it was still great. Thanks for sharing, and happy reading 🙂

Mine would be Grave Mercy, Shadow and Bone, and Seraphina! I had to have them and they are still sitting on my TBR pile waiting to be read! Great post!

  5. Throne of Glass is still on my shelf, too. And I am still super excited about it. I have no idea why I have yet to read it? Meant To Be, Second Chance Summer and Getting Over Garrett DeLaney are all on my list, but not my shelf!
