“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that book bloggers are eagerly anticipating.

This week’s WoW pick is a companion to one of my 5-star books this year:

Rose Under Fire (Code Name Verity companion)
Author: Elizabeth Wein
Publisher: Doubleday Canada (Hyperion Books in USA/UK)
Expected publication date: September 17, 2013
While flying an Allied fighter plane from Paris to England, American ATA pilot and amateur poet, Rose Justice, is captured by the Nazis and sent to Ravensbrück, the notorious women’s concentration camp. Trapped in horrific circumstances, Rose finds hope in the impossible through the loyalty, bravery and friendship of her fellow prisoners. But will that be enough to endure the fate that’s in store for her?

Elizabeth Wein, author of the critically-acclaimed and best-selling Code Name Verity, delivers another stunning WWII thriller. The unforgettable story of Rose Justice is forged from heart-wrenching courage, resolve, and the slim, bright chance of survival.

So in case you didn’t know, I kind of adored the girl-friendship/spy/pilot historical Code Name Verity and GIF reviewed the heck out of it. A couple weeks ago, I was creeping catalogues, and I found this: Rose Under Fire, the sequel/companion to Code Name Verity! I’m not sure CNV needs a sequel – it stands alone perfectly – but frankly, I will read anything that Elizabeth Wein writes now.
The cover for the Canadian edition was just revealed, and I am IN LOVE. I love the fighter plains, and the girl’s determined look, and how the font treatment is all retro. CNV had a cool cover with the hands bound together, but I found it a bit abstract. But this–I can totally get on board (get it?) with this.
Are you guys excited for ROSE UNDER FIRE? Have you read CODE NAME VERITY? Let me know in the comments!
