Recap: Morgan Matson in Toronto!

As some of you know, I had the opportunity to interview one of my all-time favorite authors, Morgan Matson in Toronto a few weeks ago as part of her tour for her fifth book, Save the Date. Was it one of my favorite book events ever? Yes. Was it a highlight of my blogging career? YES. Would it have been amazing even if I hadn’t been moderating? I think so? Here’s what went down at the event for those of you who couldn’t attend or just want to hear what it was like to be an event host! Since this is […]

We’ll be chatting about her new book, Save the Date, and I’ve got some fun questions to ask her about themes in her books, donuts, and more. This is definitely one of my blogger dreams come true, and I’m so thankful to Chapters Indigo, Morgan & the team at Simon & Schuster Canada for giving me the opportunity to […]

2015 End of Year Bookish Survey!

2015 End of Year Bookish Survey!

Hi all, happy 2016! I’m a little late with the 2015 End of Year Bookish Survey because I’ve been at Disney World with my family. I’m actually still there, but every year I attempt to get Jamie @ The Perpetual Page-Turner‘s End of Year Bookish Survey done and every year I fail. Not this year! I’m doing it from FLORIDA! Read on for my stats and favourites – and let me know if yours correlate. 2015 Reading Stats Number Of Books You Read: 83 plus some novellas and short stories Number of Re-Reads: 10. I’m not very good at tracking re-reads, but […]

2015 Fierce Reads Tour: Recap!

2015 Fierce Reads Tour: Recap!

Sometimes, you go to book events, and they’re good. And then sometimes, like today, they’re great. For the final stop on the Fierce Reads Fall 2015 tour, Leigh Bardugo, Josephine Angelini, Emma Mills, and Leila Sales came up to Toronto to chat about their new books, gush about each other (seriously, they all LOVE each others’ books), and do a signing. After a great lunch with Wendy (A Cupcake and a Latte) , we headed over to Indigo Yonge-Eglinton about two hours before the event. With four authors there, we knew we had to get in early to get seats! Giselle […]

#WaitingonWednesday: The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood

#WaitingonWednesday: The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood

I heard about The Square Root of Summer awhile back while perusing catalogues for Spring 2016 (that font treatment is perfection!), but it wasn’t until last weekend’s Raincoast Books Teen Preview that I got super excited. Physics and time travel in books is one of my auto-buy triggers, and the fact that the author wrote a thesis on Dawson’s Creek basically sold me on her forever. Is The Square Root of Summer on your TBR? Are you obsessed with science in your books, too? What are you waiting for this week? Let me know and I’ll stop by! Want to win a Sept […]

GIVEAWAY + #BEA15 Recap: Day 3 & the New York weekend!

GIVEAWAY + #BEA15 Recap: Day 3 & the New York weekend!

Hi guys, this is the last of my BEA15 recaps – phew, I’m exhausted just reliving this. Let’s get to it! FRIDAY We got to BEA early (but not too early) so that Sarah (You Should Read This) could get in line for the Six of Crows signing with Leigh Bardugo. I had extra time, so I went to drop off our suitcase (VERY IMPORTANT TIP), and then ran into Rainbow Rowell, said hi, and hugged her! I knew I wasn’t going to get into her line later on, but honestly, all I really wanted was to do that because […]

(Notso) Personal Friday: YA for NJ starts today! Go bid now!

Today’s post will have a few cute pics of my pets, but I really wanted to spotlight something bigger than myself. I’m talking about Kieran Scott‘s YA for NJ eBay auctions that start tonight. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast of the US earlier this month. A lot of people lost their homes and belongings in floods, especially people in New Jersey.  In order to help with rebuilding efforts, Kieran (author of the She’s So Dead to Us series, the PRIVATE and PRIVILEGE series, and countless other YA novels that I’ve […]

Stacking the Shelves #2: eBooks, EPIC Ontario Book Bloggers Meet-Up haul, and more!

It’s been awhile since my last Stacking the Shelves, huh? If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll notice that I just got a new Kobo Mini eReader, thanks to their Black Friday sale, and I am LOVING it. I also amassed a ton of books since the Ontario Book Bloggers’ Meet-Up earlier in the month, and I’ve been going a bit nuts on NetGalley. Here’s what I got: Bought or acquired myself: From Amazon.ca (thanks to my wonderful future sis/bro-in-law): A Wrinkle in Time Graphic Novel by Hope Larson and Madeleine L’Engle – So glad to finally have this in my […]
