“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that book bloggers are eagerly anticipating.

This week’s WoW pick is a debut from a new author – after sharing my 2013 most-anticipated-all-sequel/fave-authors reads, I definitely feel like I need to share some of my brand-new-can’t-waits:

The Rules for Disappearing

Author: Ashley Elston
Publisher: Disney Hyperion

Expected publication date: May 14, 2013
Goodreads synopsis:
She’s been six different people in six different places: Madeline in Ohio, Isabelle in Missouri, Olivia in Kentucky . . . But now that she’s been transplanted to rural Louisiana, she has decided that this fake identity will be her last.

Witness Protection has taken nearly everything from her. But for now, they’ve given her a new name, Megan Rose Jones, and a horrible hair color. For the past eight months, Meg has begged her father to answer one question: What on earth did he do – or see – that landed them in this god-awful mess? Meg has just about had it with all the Suits’ rules — and her dad’s silence. If he won’t help, it’s time she got some answers for herself.

But Meg isn’t counting on Ethan Landry, an adorable Louisiana farm boy who’s too smart for his own good. He knows Meg is hiding something big. And it just might get both of them killed. As they embark on a perilous journey to free her family once and for all, Meg discovers that there’s only one rule that really matters — survival.

This book sounds really action-y and awesome, with a lot of romance and feels. It’s also firmly in the contemporary category, so I’m really liking the sounds of it. I’m interested to find out more about what happened to Megan’s dad and how Megan is dealing with all of the secrecy and moving.
I totally admit that that cover had me looking twice at this book – it just looks so perfect for the concept – except, why is she barefoot?

  1. I am SO excited to read this book!! I've never read a book about a girl who has to constantly change identities, and I think I'd love that kind of thing. So, I'm super excited to pick this one up, come May.

    Fantastic pick! <3

  2. I LOVE the cover of this book, and the premise peaks my curiosity. Can you imagine having to pick up and leave behind everything and everyone that you have ever known? Even yourself? I don't believe that I could do it.
