Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart | Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday: Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart If you’ve been in the YA world for awhile, you know that E. Lockhart writes fierce femmes who aren’t afraid to assert their authority over men. See: Ruby Oliver. See: Frankie Landau-Banks. See: Cadence Sinclair (P.S. We Were Liars deluxe edition coming out in May!!) Ms. Lockhart takes her time with her YA books, only publishing every few years. And the books are usually short. But they are packed with perfect diction, brilliant prose, and twists and turns that slay you. In my opinion, it is very, very hard to write a believable, […]

You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando | Mini-Review

Review: You Don’t Know My Name by Kristen Orlando I came into You Don’t Know My Name hoping for an Ally Carter like spy story. And knowing Swoon Reads, I expected a fast-paced book with a lot of romance. This book is definitely not Ally Carter, but it does do an okay job with the whole “normal girl who is secretly a spy” idea. I liked Reagan and her friendships, and I enjoyed the romance with her neighbour Luke. I also appreciated that the author took her time showing us Reagan’s teen life and what she leaves behind every time […]

Book Blitz: Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas

Hi guys, today I’m helping promote Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas, aka Abby McDonald. Normally, I don’t participate in blitzes without reading the book first (my ARC TBR is crazy right now), but I’ve long been a fan of Abby’s work, especially Sophomore Switch and The Popularity Rules, which are both really smart feminist books. She’s an author who really looks at how women are portrayed and what matters to them, and she’s great at turning typical plot points on their heads in surprising ways.  I haven’t read Dangerous Girls yet, but this companion sounds like a fantastic, twisty thriller. […]

Lockhart (website | twitter) Publisher: Delacorte Press (Random House of Canada) Source: Finished copy from BEA14 Format: Hardcover, 227 pages Publication date: May 6, 2014 My rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.  A beautiful and distinguished family. True love. The truth. We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart. Read it. And if anyone […]
