Two Books About Trauma and Its Aftermath

Hi guys, today I have nice, light-hearted reviews for you, perfect for sum–I’m just kidding. And I probably shouldn’t kid about this. Today I’m reviewing All We Have Left by Wendy Mills and 738 Days by Stacey Kade. These are two very different books about trauma and that deal with grief in different situations and circumstances. They’re not super easy to read, but they’re both pretty good and portray trauma with honesty and compassion. Read on for my thoughts. Two Books About Trauma and Its Aftermath A moving portrayal of the before and after of 9/11 and how it affects […]

You Know Me Well & The Way to Game the Walk of Shame | Mini-Reviews

Hey guys! Today I’ve got reviews of YOU KNOW ME WELL by David Levithan and Nina Lacour, and THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME by Jenn P. Nguyen. Normally I save up a few more minis before posting, but like Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner says more eloquently, it’s summer, so I’m lightening the load a bit and doing more mini-reviews in shorter posts. Hope these help you decide on your next read! A fast and pretty YA read, probably great for younger readers. This book reminded me a ton of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist – only, […]

“Always Starting Over”: One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid | Review

Review: Holy moly. ONE TRUE LOVES by Taylor Jenkins Reid answers one of my biggest questions – and I think a lot of people’s questions – about whether you can have more than one “love of your life.” I’ve always wondered what would happen and how I would feel if something like this happened to me. Even now, I can’t even fathom it, but I feel like Taylor Jenkins Reid, with her brilliant, sensitive, emotional writing, has given me a glimpse into a little bit of how I would feel. I’m not even going to try to summarize this, because […]

Waiting on Wednesday: Tumbling by Caela Carter

Waiting on Wednesday: Tumbling by Caela Carter

I feel like I’ve been waiting for Tumbling by Caela Carter forever; I first heard about it last year and it immediately made my must-have list because GYMNASTICS YA. Have I mentioned I’m a huge fan of Make It Or Break It, the short-lived ABC Family series, and sports YA in general? The synopsis makes me think this is definitely going to be a lot like that show when the stakes get high. And as we know…when the stakes get high, that’s when the competition really gets fierce. Is Tumbling on your TBR? Are you a fan of sports in your books? […]
