Every year, I participate in a few reading challenges. Usually very quietly, because I hate reading pressure and I’m more of a mood reader, especially now that I have a kid who takes up a lot of time. Usually I don’t even track them very well. However, this year, I decided to give you guys a little preview into the themes I’ll be looking into for 2019.
2019 YEAR OF THE ASIAN READING CHALLENGE
I just heard about the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge and I’m absolutely delighted to see it out there. In the past few years, I’ve been trying to read more diversely, and as an Asian-Canadian, I get really excited to read books that represent me!
Because I’m pretty short on reading time, my plan is to go for the low end of the challenge – 1-10 books. I’m definitely hoping to at least get to five Asian books this year.
Here are a few key Asian titles I’m looking forward to diving into this year – let me know if you know of other Asian books that you read and loved – I’m really looking for recs for this one. Click on the covers for more information about each book!
2019 Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge
The Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge is one I do every year, because it aligns with my reading interests and goals. I’ve never bothered to count how many books I end up reading in this category, but I’m sure it’s, like, 80 percent of my reading. It’s also hosted by my blogger pal Andi @ Andi’s ABCs so this one is a no-brainer.
This year, I’m going to be a bit more mindful about how many I read for this challenge. I’ll probably try for at least 30 books, which is the Grand Slam level. Here are a few I’m looking forward to (and guess what, 4 out of 5 of the books above count for this challenge, too!). Click on the covers for more information about each book!
Are you doing any reading challenges this year? What kinds of books are making your list? How do you read or choose books mindfully? And how do you keep up with your challenges? Let me know in the comments!
I want to read each and every one of these books. I have already read the Mills and Thorne book (liked the Throne, LOVED the Mills), but sadly, do not have any of the others. Good luck with your challenges!
