This week’s can’t-wait-for-it book is probably on a lot of bloggers’ lists just because of the cover!

Expected publication: November 4, 2014

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Ok, so first, let’s just take a moment to look at that stunning cover.
<moment>
And…scene. Thank you, Cover Designer, for this ridiculous piece of gorgeous.
Secondly, you all know how I love science in my YA, right? And physics and time-travel? *drops book on floor, walks away.*
What I love, love, LOVE about this premise, though, is that it’s very clear that this is a total sci-fi mystery. Something happened to make Paul (or someone else) kill Marguerite’s father, and I love the fact that they have to race through parallel universes in order to figure it out. Reminds me of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and also, Back to the Future 2 (if you guys haven’t seen the BTTF series, you are missing out!).
I’m totally posting a spoiler-y video, by the way – this is the Back to the Future 1 and 2 scenes at the dance side-by-side because…MULTIPLE UNIVERSES, guys!
Anyway…are you guys interested/excited about A Thousand Pieces of You? I haven’t read any of Claudia Gray’s other novels – have you read those? If so, what did you think? What’s on your can’t wait for it list this week? Let me know in the comments!

  2. Ohhh yes! I so want to read A Thousand Pieces of You but you're absolutely right that the cover is STUNNING. I'm not a huge fan of time-travel (personally) but this sound like one story that has it REALLY well done!

    Great pick!
