Top Ten Tuesday #3: Favourite Romances!

February 12, 2013 / 14 Comments / Top Ten Tuesday, Uncategorized

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish to highlight a top ten list related to book blogging, and to get to know fellow book bloggers.

This week’s focus is on our favourite romances – you guys know I’m a huge contemp/romance fan, so here’s my list of perfect romances for you to read before Valentine’s Day!

In no particular order…

1. Anna & Etienne from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – followed closely by Lola & the Boy Next Door, but I couldn’t put both!

2. Hazel & Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – epic and timeless. I’m sure this is going to be on many people’s lists.
3. Allyson & Willem from Just One Day by Gayle Forman – this one is also about loving yourself, which is extra awesome. And can I just put in an extra ship for Allyson + Dee’s friendship?
4. Vicky Austin & Adam Eddington from A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L’Engle – one of my favourite books and couples of all time. I seriously feel that this book formed the basis of my understanding for what I wanted out of a relationship
5. Amy & ?? from the Secret Society Girl series by Diana Peterfreund – the romance in these books is SO sexy, especially in Rites of Spring (Break) and Tap & Gown – I don’t even want to tell you who to root for because it’s such an awesome and amazing surprise
6. Jessica & Marcus from the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty – Second Helpings and Perfect Fifths are especially amazing
7. America & Maxon from The Selection by Kiera Cass – so cute. Aspen can suck it.
8. Jess & Ryan from The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy – if you haven’t read this kick-butt, girl-power, secret society book yet, you’re missing out. It’s one of my all-time favourites. And the romance is SMOKIN’.
9. Lizzie Bennet & William Darcy from The Lizzie Bennet Diaries – this is breaking the rules because it’s a webseries, but seriously, if you guys haven’t watched the LBD yet, you’re missing out. This romance is so sweet, and the rest of the series is brilliant. I’m OBSESSED. Check out my tumblr for proof.
10. Elizabeth Bennet & Mr Darcy from Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen – since I put in LBD, I couldn’t not put in one of my all-time favourite couples ever, right?

What are your favourite romances in books or TV or whatever? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Anna & Etienne are so cute both in Anna and the French Kiss and in Lola and the Boy Next Door. I loved that Stephanie Perkins gave the a repeat performance in Lola!

  2. Ahhh, so glad you included A Ring of Endless Light. I was ALL about that when I was younger. 🙂 Also, dolphins are awesome!

bahaha, I love the double P&P love. 🙂

  3. Aw I loved Maxon. I'm not sure if I ship him and America yet, but I do like him a lot. Aspen is a total jerk as far as I'm concerned. (I do like the bit at the end where America is like, "I chose me." and tells him to get lost.

Also, I loooooved A Ring of Endless Light! I totally forgot about that book until now.

  4. Can I just say.. I *love* that you mentioned Madeleine L'Engle!! She's one of my favorite authors ever. It's funny because I actually considered putting Meg and Calvin on my list but then decided to go with Anne and Gilbert instead. Anyway, great list!! 🙂

  5. oh my gosh, I really want to read the Secret Society Girl series! It seriously sounds like something I would enjoy. You're right, I've seen a lot of Hazel + Augustus (& Anna + St. Clair!) 🙂

  6. Aww I love Lizze and Darcy! And I LOVE the LBD. Anna and Etienne are probably one of my all time favorite couples. They're just so cute!

  7. I have actually never read any of these books, but now I WANT TO. A couple of my favorite romances are Taylor/Jonah from Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and Celaena/Chaol from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.
