Waiting on Wednesday | The Names They Gave Us | Emery Lord

I mean. It’s Emery Lord. Emery Lord, who is one of my all-time fave authors. So much so that I did a week of posts about her work. Emery Lord, who writes about complex females and femship and  feminism and grief and mental health in the best, most illuminating ways. Emery Lord, writing about a religious girl who goes to Bible camp (my life as a tween) questioning her faith (also me). Auto-buy, obviously. Also, will you look at that watercolour cover? Is THE NAMES THEY GAVE US on your TBR? What are you waiting for this week? Let me know […]

When We Collided by Emery Lord | Book Review

Review: When We Collided by Emery Lord When We Collided is Emery Lord’s best book. I just have to lay this out there. It’s her tightest, most impassioned, most honest and raw piece of fiction, a book about a girl, Vivi, a seventeen year old who wants to live in the small moments in life and soak in all the beauty and fire of first love, but is hampered by her own mental health issues. Vivi and her mother move to a small California town for a summer and there, Vivi meets Jonah, a boy who is responsible for more […]

#WaitingonWednesday: All We Have Left by Wendy Mills

Yesterday, the lovely publicity & marketing ladies at Bloomsbury Kids held their Spring Preview event. They live-streamed their pitches for upcoming books coming out from about March 2016 onwards and us bloggers went a little nuts with all the pretties waved in front of us. All We Have Left by Wendy Mills was the book that immediately caught my eye (that cover feeds my watercolour-loving soul – look how well it matches my blog!) and heart. @mostlyyalit SAME. That one is sure to make me cry. #BloomsburySpringPreview — Kit Katlin (@KaitlinS16) October 27, 2015 ALL WE HAVE LEFT would be […]

Guys, this week has been one of the most special in my blogging career. Never would I have guessed that I would get to interview Emery or commission a quiz from her! Thanks to all of you, and especially Bloomsbury, Penguin Canada, and Emery, this has turned into such a fun, emotional, literary week, so thank you so much for that. I’ve been reading all of the comments, and it has been so gratifying […]

[GIVEAWAY + Guest Post] 5 Reasons to Put When We Collided on Your To Be Read List

Hi guys, today I’ve got a fantastic guest post from the wonderful Ginger of GReads! on Emery Lord’s 2016 release, When We Collided. Ginger is one of Emery’s biggest fans, and she got to read this book when it was still going through revisions (seriously, how jealous are you?). When she offered to help out with this week, I knew I needed to get her to talk about what she loved about WWC – spoiler-free, of course! Read on for her thoughts, and for an international ARC giveaway! Opening up an Emery Lord book is like taking a plunge; the […]

Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker

Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker

This is one of my favorite summer 2012 reads. It has heart, it has depth, it has lightness, and it has the sweetest romance ever. Walker has absolutely triumphed with this book. What really got me was how REAL everything seemed, especially the characters. Clementine, the protagonist, felt very much like me as a teenager. James, the love interest, was the perfect complement to her rawness – he was joyful and jovial, but in a way that felt both masculine and flawed. The secondary characters of her family and the other boating people were so full and rich and authentic […]
