“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that book bloggers are eagerly anticipating.

This week’s can’t-wait-for-it book is one I know a lot of bloggers picked up at #BEA14, but one I didn’t get…and now I wish I did!

Famous in Love
Author: Rebecca Serle

Publisher: Poppy
Expected publication: October 21st 2014

The romantic story of a girl who gets plucked from obscurity to star in the next major feature film franchise based on a book and the ensuing love triangles she gets entangled in on—-and off screen.

Meet Paige Townsen, Rainer Devon, and Jordan Wilder…

When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.

In this coming-of-age romance inspired by the kind of celeb hookups that get clever nicknames and a million page views, Paige must figure out who she is – and who she wants – while the whole world watches.

I am a BIG fan of books about acting, Hollywood, and movies – and this one is a whole book-to-movie concept! It totally reminds me of Taffy Sinclair Goes to Hollywood, which was one of my favourite books as a kid – a girl plucked from obscurity to become a star, with all the drama that comes with it.

Obviously, I’m expecting that Rebecca’s story delivers a lot more emotional oomph than Taffy did – Taffy was part of a series that was kind of similar to Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High – unrealistic but fun escapism. I’ve only heard amazing things about Rebecca’s YA novels, especially When You Were Mine, a retelling of Romeo and Juliet from Rosaline’s perspective (Rosaline was the “other woman” in Romeo’s life before he met Juliet). Plus, who doesn’t want insight into what Shailene Woodley or JLaw’s life is like right now?

Are you excited for FAMOUS IN LOVE? Have you read Betsy Haynes’ Taffy Sinclair or Fabulous Five novels? Are you into Hollywood and acting as a concept? Have you read any other Rebecca Serle novels (which one do you recommend I start with?)? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I read this when I got back from BEA. It was really great. I love Rebecca's other books and this one was a slight departure, but I really enjoyed the story it told. You should definitely try to get a copy if you can. And read her other two books. When You Were Mine has one of my favorite book quotes.
