Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that book bloggers are eagerly anticipating.

Since You’ve Been Gone
Author: Morgan Matson (website | twitter)
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Expected publication date: May 13th 2014

Goodreads synopsis:
The Pre-Sloane Emily didn’t go to parties, she barely talked to guys, she didn’t do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend—the one who yanks you out of your shell. But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just… disappears. No note. No calls. No texts. No Sloane. There’s just a random to-do list. On it, thirteen Sloane-selected-definitely-bizarre-tasks that Emily would never try… unless they could lead back to her best friend. Apple Picking at Night? Ok, easy enough. Dance until Dawn? Sure. Why not? Kiss a Stranger? Wait… what?

Getting through Sloane’s list would mean a lot of firsts. But Emily has this whole unexpected summer ahead of her, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected) to check things off. Who knows what she’ll find?

Go Skinny Dipping? Um…

Morgan Matson’s Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour inspired me to start writing my own YA novel, so of course, this is on my TBR. I still haven’t gotten to Second Chance Summer (but it’s sitting on my bookshelf, begging me to read it), but I’m pretty sure that Matson is one of the freshest and best voices in contemporary YA today. I love how she writes books about summer, this epic, finite amount of time where anything can happen for teens. I love how she pushes and challenges her characters to do more and be more creative. Since You’ve Been Gone is no exception. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Emily try to finish the to-do list and figure out how to deal with her best friend’s absence.

Also, this cover has to have the best font treatment ever. LOVE the vintage-y vibe.

Are you guys waiting impatiently for SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE? Have you read Morgan Matson’s other novels? Are you super into summer novels like I am? Hit the comments and let me know!
