Learning to Swear in America | Giveaway + Guest Post by Author Katie Kennedy

Hi guys, today I have the lovely Katie Kennedy here to talk about her upcoming debut, LEARNING TO SWEAR IN AMERICA. If you know me, you know I really love science in my YA and I’m especially partial to physics, so this book has been on my to-be-read list since I first heard about it. I love that there’s this 17-year-old physics prodigy who’s going to learn how to be a teenager from this normal kid…with a backdrop of living your life to the fullest. SO my kind of book. Read on to find out more about the book, then […]

Wanderlost by Jen Malone | Review

Review: Wanderlost by Jen Malone You guys. Wanderlost by Jen Malone is this summer’s perfect beach read. You know the one I’m talking about. The book that has you racing through from page one, whipping through as fast as you can, falling so hard and fast for the heroine, the journey, THE BOY. The book that takes you on an adventure so compelling that you don’t notice that the sun is setting until your mom shakes your arm and tells you it’s time to go. The book that you read in the car going home and long into the night […]

The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood | Review + Blog Tour

Hi guys, today I’m excited to be part of the Canadian Blog Tour for The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood. This is a really unusual young adult novel, chock full of science and heartbreak, but with beautiful and quirky writing. Read on for a short Q&A with Harriet (about Dawson’s Creek, because Harriet did her Ph.D on it!), and then my review! Who is your favorite Dawson’s Creek character and why? Harriet Reuter Hapgood: Jen Lindley. Without question. I loved her from the get-go. She had such an awful time of it – sexualized way too young, […]

[NO SPOILERS] Series Review | The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

Background artwork created by Maggie Stiefvater – I’m just borrowing it. Find out how you can own it here! As some of you know, I am a huge fan of The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s actually the only hard paranormal/supernatural series I’ve ever really full-on loved, which is a testament to Maggie’s amazing writing. I was lucky enough to receive my pre-order of The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater super early, so I read and review it (spoiler-free!) for today, release day! And because I hadn’t yet reviewed The Dream Thieves or Blue Lily, Lily Blue, I’m doing that […]

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld | Book Review

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld | Book Review

Review: Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld is a witty and enjoyable, if long, retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Clocking in at 512 pages, Sittenfeld takes her time establishing the characters, the city of Cincinnati, and the society in which they live. This is a book for people who like to fall in love with a city and who, like Elizabeth Bennet herself, tend to hold onto first impressions of books and characters. At first glance, Liz Bennet and her family seem like pretty despicable people. They’re old money Cincinnati folk, born with and continuing […]

Dreamology by Lucy Keating | Review

Review: Dreamology by Lucy Keating Dreamology by Lucy Keating is an unusual, lushly romantic YA sci-fi novel that surprised me with its pitch perfect voice. I read the first 100 pages with a lot of breaks in between, and then the rest of it all in one fell swoop because I had to know what would happen. If you’re into sci-fi or fantasy YA, and you’re looking for a contemporary transition, this might be a good one for you. Alternately, if you’re into contemporary or romance and you’re looking for something a little bit more speculative, this would be a great […]
