15-books-most-anticipated-2017-banner-mostly-ya-litThis is the easiest Top Ten Tuesday I’ve done, like, EVER. Also, if this list is to be believed, I will be shedding vats of tears for the next six months.

So, in no particular order, but actually sort of in order?

15 Books You Need in the First Half Of 2017

 1.  2.  3.  4.  5.

1. The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord | May 16 – Emery Lord fangirl here. This book is about a girl going to summer camp and a struggle with faith. Basically, it’s about me. Also, it’s Emery, so you know there are going to be feels and words of beauty.

2. Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner | March 7 – The Serpent King is probably the best book I read this year, and I am so grateful and lucky to have an ARC of Jeff’s sophomore novel. It’s about a teen who feels responsible for his friends’ deaths and helps others stage memorial days to cope. CUE THE TEARS.

3. The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein | May 2 – Code Name Verity prequel. If you haven’t read CNV, please immediately proceed to your bookstore, because it’s the best historical YA friendship book ever, and you need it. I know this one is going to be waterworks city, but I am ready for it.

4. Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios | June 13 – Oh man, just look at that cover! I’ve been waiting for a new contemporary from Heather for ages – she knows just how to capture those moments of perfection and heartbreak in a couple. My body is ready.

5.The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli | April 11 – I’m really hoping that this is the cute book that makes all the tears go away, because that’s what Becky’s first book, Simon vs The Homo Sapiens did. Give me the cute book!

 6. 7.   8.  9.  10.

6. History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera | January 17 – I am reading this one SOON, and based on Adam’s last book, I am seriously preparing myself for tears.

7. Fireworks by Katie Cotugno – April 18 – Even I am shocked by the fact that I’ve never read a Katie Cotugno book. But I’m pretty sure this is the right one to start with. 90s pop stars? Complex female friendships? I’m so there.

8. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon | May 30 – Arranged marriage YA rom-com? YES to this debut.

9. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee | June 20 – Mackenzi has been promoting this as “the big gay 18th century road trip novel you didn’t know you wanted” – yeah, I’m here for that.

10. Lessons in Falling by Diane Gallagher | February 7 – I’m obsessed with gymnastics books, and this one sounds SO good.

11. 12.  13.  14.  15.

11. Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse | March 7 – Ok, so firstly, this is set in Tokyo, which is just…YES. Secondly, this is a book about a girl who’s leaving after living abroad, and I don’t see that often. And thirdly, it’s totally a reunion romance, and basically this is crack and I need it now.

12. Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy | May 9 – this was last week’s Waiting on Wednesday, but I couldn’t stop myself from including it on this list because JULIE GETS IT, guys.

13. Maud by Melanie J. Fishbane | May 16 – I’ve talked about Maud a ton, but honestly, a book about YA L.M. Montgomery, author of the Anne books? Seriously, *dead*.

14. Wires & Nerve by Marissa Meyer | January 31 – If you’re a fan of The Lunar Chronicles, I think you know why you need this. IKO. Graphic novel. Done.

15. Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy | January 31 – If you’ve read any of Sarina or Elle’s books, you know why you need this. But also, if you’re a fan of Him and Us…you definitely need this one.

What books do you need in the first half of 2017? Leave a comment and I’ll stop by!

Also, if you want some holiday in your life, I’m over at What Sarah Read today for her Home for the Holidays series, talking about Christmas and Hanukkah decor!

  1. I only just finished “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” a few days ago and enjoyed it a lot, so I’m definitely looking forward to Becky Albertalli’s next book!

  2. The Jeffrey Zenter and Adam Silvera books are definitely on my list. I am looking forward to both of those. I have so much to catch up on! Great list!!!

  3. “Seven Days of You” is one I have on my shelf, so I really need to read it, and of course, I cannot wait to read Emery’s latest (as well as her 2016 book!). I’ve not read anything by Katie Cotugno either, but have looked at her books. Hopefully I’ll remedy this in 2017. 🙂
