I’m so glad to be sharing my Best Books of 2015! I’ll be sharing a bit more about them in my 2015 End of Year Bookish Survey, but for now…here’s my list, along with a quote from my review!
Best Books of 2015:
- Mosquitoland by David Arnold: “I read Mosquitoland in two days – I found Mim’s voice so distinct and compelling, and my connection with her was so strong that I was on the edge of tears for two-thirds of the book(and laughing in the other third).”
- The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan: “It’s about the sacrifices we make to be with the ones we love, and how much Bex has to commit, and commit again to be with someone who has duties and obligations that may be more important than her. And it’s about making those mature decisions and living with them. ”
- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: “This isn’t a read where you’re relaxed and drinking tea with your cat beside you. This is a read where you’re sitting there, arms tense, tea forgotten, alternately shaking and hugging your cat because WTF JUST HAPPENED.”
- Winter by Marissa Meyer: “…each one finds something in themselves, despite mistakes and challengers, that changes them into something more than they were in previous books. That’s what made this series – and this book – epic for me, and had me cheering through the stressful moments and the fears.”
- Dumplin by Julie Murphy: “What Dumplin really gets right is theme: every moment of this book, whether it’s advancing the romantic plot or friendship plot, or just Willowdean’s own development – it’s all in line with the themes of loving yourself and how difficult and important that can be sometimes.”
- You’re Never Weird on the Internet by Felicia Day: “I don’t think I’ve ever cried or been so inspired and empowered after reading a memoir.”
- First & Then by Emma Mills: “Mills carefully and brilliantly plots her novel so that we get those Austen feels, but the book never feels like it relies on Austen for anything.”
- Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone: “Tamara Ireland Stone has an incredible ability to make her characters voices deeply personal and deeply compelling. Her writing gets to the heart of the character, and with Sam, I was immediately captivated.”
- None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio: “In the wrong hands, I feel like None of the Above could have been melodramatic or worse, inauthentic. But in I.W. Gregorio’s hands, the writing, the plot, the character, the tone – everything works together to elevate Kristin’s story and make this one of the most important and thought-provoking novels I’ve read this year.”
- The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord: “At the beginning of the school year, Paige is just trying to get the simplest list of things done. She’s someone who has gone through a terrible ordeal, and has realized how important her friends and family are. She’s not really feeling the guilt of being alive at this point. It’s been months since her ex-boyfriend died. She’s gone through that. Now she’s just trying to survive. And there’s so much beauty in the effort to do that.”
Best Books Read in 2015 but released in a different year:
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer: “If you read Cinder and enjoyed it, but didn’t find it completely captivating, rest assured, Scarlet takes it to eleven.”
The Understatement of the Year by Sarina Bowen (haven’t reviewed yet – stay tuned!)
Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare: “…not only does this have an incredibly sexy romance, but it also celebrates the written word and fandom in a way that is hilarious, charming, and just effervescent.”

Yay THE START OF ME AND YOU! I loved that book, especially because it made me cry 😉 FIRST & THEN is super cute, WINTER is amazing, as is EVERY LAST WORD. Great list, Tiff! Gotta check out some of these other titles 😉
I am almost scared to read Winter. Though everyone promises that it’s a perfect conclusion, the intense love I have for the series, makes me hesitate!
And I agree with what you said about Scarlet! While I loved Cinder, Scarlet was where, I really started to feel engrossed in the story!

Fantastic list Tiff^^ I have Winter and Illuminae both lined up to be my next reads, but Winter will be my very next one for sure, just as soon as I finish reading Truthwitch! I can’t wait to see how the series wraps up but at the same time, I’m not ready for it to be over D: Dumpling is a popular one this week too, I need to check that one out as well!

Iʻm currently reading The Royal We and I am really enjoying it! Unfortunately, with mommy and wife duties, itʻs going much too slow then I would like, otherwise it probably would have made my own list!
Iʻve been thinking about reading Youʻre Never Weird on the Internet but I was on the fence about it. Iʻm gonna have to check out your review, but I think Iʻll definitely be adding it to my 2016 TBR! This is a great list.

I’m just reading it but I have a feeling it’s going to be a favourite of mine this year. Six of Crows! I also read a lot of older books that I absolutely love- the false prince, graceling, this song will save your life, and books by LD Cedergreen. Hope you have an excellent reading year come 2016! ^^
