#TopTenTuesday: Finished Series to Finish (or Start)

September 8, 2015 / 25 Comments / Top Ten Tuesday

toptentuesday3This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is all about finished series that you need to finish…but I’ve discovered that I’m actually pretty darn good at finishing series when I’ve started them! I know, I can’t believe it either, but I think it has to do with my obsession with closure and the fact that I’m very picky about the series I start.

Because my TTT is so short this week, I thought I’d add in some finished series I’ve been meaning to read as well!

Finished Series I Need to Finish:

1. Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking series: like, it’s actually embarrassing that I’ve only read the first book in this since I ADORE Patrick and in another world he is my author husband. (Have you seen the fundraising he and other authors are doing for Syrian refugees? If not, check it out!)

2. L.M. Montgomery’s Anne series: as a self-proclaimed Anne fanatic, it’s pretty ridiculous that I never finished Rainbow Valley. I’ve read all of the other books in the series, but Rainbow Valley eludes me because I’m just not as interested in Anne’s kids (I did adore Rilla of Ingleside, though).

3. Cynthia Voigt’s Tillerman Cycle: I’ve read most of these, but Sons from Afar, the one about Sammy and James, and The Runner, the one about Dicey’s uncle Bullet, are still on the list.

4. Madeleine L’Engle’s O’Keefe series (and sort of The Austin series): I’ve read all of L’Engle’s children’s and YA series (not the stand-alones) work except for Dragons in the Water, and the children’s books in the Austin series.

Finished Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start

5. The Shiver (Wolves of Mercy Falls) Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater – I love her work in the Raven Cycle, so I definitely need to start this.

6. The Dust Chronicles by Maureen McGowan – Maureen is a friend and Toronto author, and I’m just a bad blogger for not having gotten to this yet.

7. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – I know, I know. The first book is on my shelf!

8. The Tempest Series by Julie Cross – I think this is the only thing by Julie I HAVEN’T read, which is kind of strange, since I love time travel

9. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – do I want to start this? Is it ever really going to end? (and yes, I know I only have the first three books up there, but those are the only ones I want to check out anyway)

10. The Ruby Oliver series by E. Lockhart – I really loved Frankie and We Were Liars – does this one live up to them?

What finished series are you trying to finish? Are you as obsessed with endings as I am, and thus, at a loss? Are there series you want to start? Which one do you think I should start next? Let me know!

  1. I SO recommend the Ruby Oliver series!! It’s my favorite of E. Lockhart’s books. Ruby has such a strong voice… and the series is actually really funny as well as being emotional. Also To All the Boys was adorable!! I need to read PS I Still Love You… it’s on my list this week 🙂

  2. I would so recommend finishing SHIVER. I actually loved the 3 books but then I adored the spin-off, SINNER, even more. That was about a favorite side character of me and I basically cried when I heard Maggie was writing it. And then it was even better than I expected, which freaking rocks. ha. I also would say only read the first 3 books in the Mortal Instruments series–it was supposed to be a trilogy anyway and then it did so well they gave her more money to write book4/5/6. I feel like you can tell in terms of plot, anyway.
    great list!!!

  3. Chaos Walking made my list too. I’m so ashamed I’ve only read book one and so many years ago! I’ve enjoyed Ness’s other works too, so I really need to get a move on and finish this series! I vote you read the Shiver series next. I hope you enjoy them! 🙂

    My Top Ten!

  4. I’ve actually just started the Shiver Series for the first time as a buddy read with a blogger friend! I’ll let you know how it goes 🙂 Honestly, I should reread my beloved Anne of Green Gables series as well, that was such a favorite of mine growing up ♥ I also need to simply get into the Chaos Walking series O.O As for The Mortal Instruments series, I only have the last book left, so it made my list this week, but I have had a lot of ups and downs with the series so I can’t really say that I recommend that you start it. Some people loved it though…I just wasn’t one of them LOL Awesome picks here Tiff^^ xx

    • Anne is the best. I think I’ve convinced myself that I finally need to read Rainbow Valley. And maybe her other work.

Yeah, I’ve heard not so great things about TMI…I’m not convinced it’s worth it. Also, I watched the first movie, and….?
