GIVEAWAY: Happy Blogoversary, Mostly YA Lit!

July 20, 2015 / 90 Comments / Blogging Life, Personal

Guys, it’s my three year blogoversary!

Yes, it’s true, Mostly YA Lit is three years old, and she’s celebrating in style this year with a brand spankin’ new design, courtesy of Hazel @ Stay Bookish and a move to WordPress self-hosting courtesy of Ashley @ Nose Graze (Creative Whim).

Why did I choose to do this? Because it was time. In the past year, I’ve lost tons of blog posts while working on them because of Blogger, and I needed something far more stable to work on. Also, I’ve been spending more time than I need to formatting my posts, and now that I have Ashley’s Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin, her amazing WordPress self-hosting, and her incredible technical support, I’m already saving time.

As for the blog design – I hadn’t changed it up in two and a half years, mostly because I didn’t believe that I’d still be doing this three years on. But here I am, and I’m so grateful to Hazel for patiently working with picky me to create a look and feel that really says what I’ve always wanted MYAL to say.

In short, this is the blogoversary where Mostly YA Lit gets the TLC she deserves.

And speaking of just desserts (mmm, ice cream!), I know how much you deserve a new book. Because whether you are a reader, blogger, vlogger, author, librarian, teacher, publishing industry professional or a friend, whether you have been with me from the beginning or you’re stopping in for the first time, I want to thank you for makingย the bookish community such a welcoming place for me. Three years ago, I started this blog as a way to document my love for books separate from Goodreads, and since then, my life has changed from being a girl who reads a lot of YA but doesn’t talk about it for fear of being laughed at, to a girl who loudly and proudly fangirls over the latest books with a whole community of book lovers. And I know that’s because of you.

Thank you for sharing your book love with me. Here’s a bit of love back – open internationally!

    • I can’t recommend Ashley enough – she is SO kind and helpful, especially to coding idiots like me. I also feel like it’s so much easier to do some of the things I’ve always dreamed about doing (adding tables quickly and easily, linking to books fast). It’s been a dream for me. I hope you do switch over some day – I feel like it’s worth it!

HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!!! I really admire Hazel’s designs so ofcourse I find this beautiful!! Super love the color scheme! The header is gorgeous <3

    • Blogger has eaten SO MANY of my posts, I can’t even tell you. There were days when I lost whole posts right as I was about to publish and had to start again from scratch. I’m now on BookHost and it’s SO stable. WordPress does take some getting used to, but I’m really liking it. I get so much more control!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I think I’ve dropped by your blog a couple of times before but I can’t seem to remember because of your new blog design (which I love!) I agree with the others that the watercolor feels add up to something really beautiful and elegant ๐Ÿ™‚ Congratulations on your third blogoversary! Wow ๐Ÿ˜€ Cheers to more bookish years ahead! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks so much! I hope I can make it to a few more blogoversaries…
The old blog was okay, but I was tired of the design. It was also on Blogger, so I didn’t have a lot of control or freedom. I like this much better.
      Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Blogoversary! ๐Ÿ˜€ The new desing is so pretty! The colours are super cute and I’m a little in love with the font. (thanks for the giveaway!)

  4. Hi there! Happy anniversary miss! While I really liked you old design a ton this one is so much prettier. Great choice on color scheme and I love the paper background. Congrats again on your anniversary

    • The paper background is awesome, right? I love how simple and clean it is.

WORDPRESS IS UNBELIEVABLE. I’ve been squeeing over everything. I’m like, “Look at these widgets! Look at my dash!” and my husband is just like “…”

  5. I just commented on your TTT mentioning the design because I didn’t realize it was brand new, and then I saw this post! Haha. It’s gorgeous, Tiff. I absolutely love it. The colours are perfect, and the design itself is subtle but eye catching. I’ve been wanting to redesign my blog for awhile and now this little voice in the back of my mind is going ‘but it can’t possibly look as good as Tiff’s’. Love it!

  6. Happy Blogoversary! I love the purple colors. Very pretty. Congrats on 3 years. That is so fantastic. I’m always happy when blog’s are with me for years. That’s how we find wonderful books. (At least I do) Thank you for all your hard work. Keep up the wonderful job.

  7. I love it! And I can completely relate to your quote at the top. I am definitely a teenager trapped in a 33 year olds body…. at least when it comes to my reading preferences! And I am proud of it! Congratulations on your 3rd birthday, and thank you for the awesome giveaway!

  8. Tiff! Congratulations! I’m so pumped for you for the blogoversary and the redesign and the WordPress switcheroo. Makes me think I should really do the same for mine. It’ll be five years for me this fall. FIVE YEARS, Tiff! The new design is great and I think reflects you which is exactly what you want your blog to do. It’s your corner of the Internet so it should be just as you please!
Congrats again and I can’t wait to see you this weekend!

    • YOU SHOULD SWITCH. Five years? It’s time! And it’s actually made a lot of things easier for me in terms of the backend of blogging.

I’m really happy with the design and relieved that people like it, too. =P Can’t wait to see you on Sat!

Hi, today is actually my first time visiting your blog. I love the design! It is simple, yet elegant and sweet ?

  10. Yow

Cool new blog design it’s super pretty and purple- my fave color! I do have a suggestion tho, make the text on the subjects bold. That’s all, congrats on the 5 years Tiff! <3

  11. Ashfa

Happy blogoversary!!! Love the color theme and the header is so pretty!! So clean and easy on the eye too ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Happy Blogoversary!!!
The book blogging community is really the best in my opinion , newcomers immediately can find someone to help them and those tie become those of friendship rapidly and for a long time

The design, i love it!! i think it fit your personnality really well ( from what i feel when reading your post) and it’s easy on the yes so i wouldn’t chaneg anything for as long as you love it

    • Thanks so much! I definitely think the bookish community is super welcoming – it’s great to be a newbie in this community. =) I’m glad I’m not anymore, but I’m also happy that I get to share some of my knowledge, too. Such a nice group of people =)

So glad you like the design. Thanks!

    Happy Blogoversary!!!
I love the new design, the colors are fantastic (and also happen to be the same ones in my bedroom ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  14. I absolutely love your new design! I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. It’s bright and fun and makes me want to revamp my blog. Also, happy blogoversary and congrats on 3 years! My blog turns 4 today ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Sam

I actually really like it. Your font choice is one I like (serifs kill me) and the background color is not distracting. It’s also quite pretty and feminine

  16. Ann S

Happy Blogoversary! I love your design, the colors, the fonts, the layout. It’s easy to read and navigate and pretty.

  17. Madalyn Hardwick

Happy Blogoversary! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am obsessed with your new blog design. The colors and the fonts couldn’t be more perfect; it all flows so nicely. The one thing I might change is the purple bar at the top of the page where you can sign up for email subscription– it’s a great idea, but since there’s already a place to do that in your sidebar, it’s a bit redundant.

  18. Jennifer T

Happy blogoversary! I’m really fond of the design, well I like blue and I love light purple. The only thing I would change is the kind of blue for the buttons (reply, post comment etc…), it should be toned down, closer to the blue of the pictures.

  19. OMG. You didn’t even have to ask about your blog design for me to tell you how beautiful it is. It’s a standout! I mean I mentally added your blog to my favorite blog layouts when I happen to come across it. The graphics too!! And I’m half surprised/half not surprised to learn that this is Hazel’s (from Staybookish) design. I’m really a big fan of the watercolor effect, if only I could clone this design and apply it on my blog.. (loljk, I won’t do that).

  20. Bube

    Happy Blogiversary!
I’m new here :D,the design is super great ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you for the great giveaway!
