Hi y’all – sorry I’ve been so remiss in posting reviews lately. I’ve been really busy getting my schedule organized and haven’t had a moment to work on my blog. But rest assured, I’m still here, and I’m still working on my Fall TBR list!

Just so you know what I’m working on, I’ve got a new feature called “Currently Reading” that I’m introducing to the blog. This will be a once-in-awhile meme that I’ll post when I’m behind on reading and don’t have time to do a full review. It will feature a book I’m currently reading and a few thoughts on what I’m liking/disliking so far.

For my first Currently Reading, here’s what’s on-the-go:

Possession by A.S. Byatt
Status: About halfway through. Just finished the letters.
Before you rat me out for putting up the ridiculous movie tie-in cover, let me just say that a) I liked the movie and it inspired me to read the book (I know, I’m crazy), and b) I am reading from this edition as it was the cheapest one at the used bookstore and my mom (Hi, Mom!) threw away my original British paperback that I bought in Hong Kong (in her defense, I did just leave it there and she was moving).
All that aside, this is one of the best books I’ve ever read so far. It’s a beautiful challenge for my brain, and it reminds me so much of doing my Masters in English. It’s very obvious that A.S. Byatt is a brilliant academic, but that she can write with such passion, beauty and talent is…ridonkulous. It’s taking me forever to read because it’s so dense, but I’m loving it. More soon on this one.

What are you currently reading? Have you read Possession? Do you like this feature? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I have never heard of this one before. It seems to me that I need to be in "intellectual mode" before I even try it! It doesn't come around often because I read for an escape, but it does come around. I will have to keep this in mind for the next time!
